How To Register

How to register a PT PMA in Indonesia

The regulatory path for setting up a foreign-owned company — we guide and coordinate each step on your behalf.

1

Reserve Your Company Name

Pick a name made up of three appropriate words and have it checked for availability before filing.

2

Draft the Deed of Establishment

Prepared before a notary and includes your company's Articles of Association.

3

Legal Entity Approval

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights reviews the deed and grants your company legal status.

4

Register for a Tax ID (NPWP)

Needed before opening a company bank account or applying for further licenses.

5

Secure a Domicile Letter

Confirms your company's official registered address.

6

Apply for Your Business ID (NIB)

Filed through the OSS system — your business and location licenses typically follow within a day.

7

Apply for Sector-Specific Licenses

Some industries require additional permits before operations can begin.

Immigration at a Glance

ITAS Investor & Work Permit requirements

A quick overview of what's typically needed — every case is reviewed individually before we file anything.

ITAS Investor

For a foreign national holding shares in a PT PMA who wants to live in Indonesia on the strength of that investment.

  • Minimum paid-up share capital of IDR 10 billion under the investor's name
  • Company holds an active NIB and business license
  • Proof of share ownership in the PT PMA
  • Passport valid at least 18 months (1-year ITAS) or 30 months (2-year ITAS)
  • Supporting company profile and corporate documents

Work Permit (RPTKA)

Required before a foreign employee can legally work for a company in Indonesia.

  • Company holds an active NIB with the relevant KBLI enabled
  • Job description and justification for the foreign role
  • Knowledge-transfer plan with a designated Indonesian counterpart
  • Filed through the Ministry of Manpower's online system before immigration processing
  • Position must match the company's approved business activity

Requirements are set by Indonesian immigration and manpower authorities and can change — we confirm the current checklist for your specific case before filing.
